THE LATE NIGHT BARGAIN...
One late night options of you're not in the mood for some of Austin's excellent street food is sushi and cocktails at Bar Chi. With menu options both classic and creative, and a convenient downtown location, Bar Chi would be worth a stop even if it didn't offer late night bargains. The reverse happy hour runs from 10pm till midnight on Thursdays and 1am on Friday and Saturday, with discounts on both sushi and cocktails.
THE DIET BUSTER...
Austin's famous for barbecue, and the best spots are no secret. Instead, let me direct you to Frank's, a hotdog and cocktail bar conveniently located downtown and with to-die-for poutine waffle fries. Be ready to abandon the diet as you work your way through a long list of cocktails and craft beers while deciding whether macaroni and cheese really sounds like something you want on a dog.
THE RETAIL THERAPY...
While Austin's malls are nothing to sniff at, with the Domain and the Arboretum both worthy of a mention, the real shopping action can be found out of town, at the San Marcos Premium Outlets. Around half an hour from downtown by car, it's a great place to stock up on designer bargains and sportswear, with shops from Armani, Prada, DVF, Gucci, and DKNY, to name but a few.
