Apocryphal though the story probably is, I got a kick out of the notion that, at Sinee More, I was eating in Vladimir Putin's favourite Sochi restaurant. Assuming it's not, it's still a decent enough restaurant with lovely views over the Black Sea. Seafood heavy, as befits the location, and a decent wine list. Open till 2am, which never hurts.

Sad though it is to say, the Russian Grand Prix is an experience to be endured, not enjoyed. The same should not be assumed of Russia as a whole -- St Petersburg and Moscow are both sensational cities worthy of your time. Sochi and Adler (where the race is held) have rather less to offer...
