There’s plenty to see and do across North America, from the classic US road trip to exploring ancient civilisations and top-notch food in Mexico. The break between the Mexican and Brazilian Grands Prix in early November is the perfect opportunity to save money by staying on the right side of the Atlantic while having an adventure of sorts.

Budget will obviously be a factor -- ten days spent jaunting around the Caribbean is going to cost a lot more money than the same time spent backpacking around Guatemala. Luxury can be found without breaking the bank if that’s really what you’re after, but sometimes a place to sleep is just a place to sleep, and clean and safe is good enough.
