There are a million websites out there telling you where to go and what to do in Europe. This is not one of them. At beyond track limits, the focus is motorsport (mainly Formula One) -- this Europe travel guide is about road trip routes between grands prix, nice places to stop along the way, and the occasional historic racetrack worth a detour.

Not yet tried but recommended by friends is the Barcelona to Monaco road trip -- in 2010 the two races were twinned, allowing for two grands prix and a road trip with only five days’ annual leave. This year you’d have two weeks to make the journey slowly along the coast.
