THE REBORN SPEAKEASY...
Originally found behind a coke machine in a shop on Shaanxi South Rd, Flask was briefly popular and then disappeared. Now back in a new (as yet untested by me) incarnation, FLASK can now be found hiding behind bao bar Tiger Bites on Xiangyang Bei Lu. The interior looks like the old one, which felt like a modern take on a gentleman's club or posh library. Excellent drinks.
THE SUSHI AND STYLE PALACE...
Recommending a Japanese restaurant in China might seem out of place, but Shintori is special enough that it would be worth a visit anywhere in the world. The approach to the restaurant has been in many an Instagram Story, and the food is top-notch. The sashimi, cooked fish dishes, and hot stone beef all come highly recommended.
THE ULTIMATE AFTER PARTY...
The most sought after of F1's post-race parties, travelling boutique event TheCode20 was founded in Shanghai and returns to the neon city every year. With a different theme for each locale -- and a fresh approach each season -- TheCode20 is a can't-miss event. Past events have included holographoc dancer, burlesque performers, and circus spectaculars. M1NT, the venue that plays host to TheCode20, is also a restaurant and nightclub throughout race week.

CHINESE GRAND PRIX
There's something about the Wild West about Shanghai, a city where -- despite the strict government -- it feels as though anything could be possible. From counterfeit designer goods to world class foie gras, Shanghai has everything you could possibly want and more.
