EATING
Sadly, Khmer food can be hard to come by in Cambodia, thanks to the loss of knowledge that resulted from the genocide of a generation. Western food abounds, so if you see a place offering Khmer cuisine, try it! Street food classics Num Kachay and bamboo sticky rice are both delicious and easy to find.
EXPLORING
With direct flights from Sihanoukville to Siem Reap, and easy travel from the capital to points outside, there's no excuse for spending your time in Cambodia stuck to one locale. Explore temples, markets, floating villages, deep jungle, and hop between paradise islands.
RELAXING
Cambodia is famed for its temples, but the islands offer beaches to rival any of those found in Thailand -- and with far fewer tourists competing for space. Koh Rang Samloem is a road-free, shoes-off paradise worthy of a diversion. Neighbouring Koh Rang is the hard-partying big sister.
CAMBODIA
While not exactly off the beaten track, Cambodia is often overlooked in favour of Thailand and Vietnam. But it's an underrated place to get a bit of blissful beach and a sense of both culture and history. With a bit of sensitivity, you can make sure your travels are benefiting the local population.
