I am Kate Walker, a freelance journalist who has spent the past decade travelling the world with Formula One, racing in 20 or more countries each year.

But knowing that March always means Australia while November is always Abu Dhabi turned an adventure into a routine. To keep things interesting, I started adding on side trips and adventures, making the most of work travel opportunities to see the wider world.

This site is a record of those experiences, filled with advice on where to go and what to do between and around international motorsports events.

beyond track limits has no official affiliation with any Formula One related body (commercial, regulatory, team, et cetera). It is the result of my travel experiences, eight years (and counting) of which have taken place thanks to my career as an F1 journalist.
